The pelham jaw piece combines the action of a snaffle and a curb and bradoon. The bit has one jaw piece but can be ridden with one or two reins. If you choose to ride with one rein, a pelham strap is needed to connect the bit rings to the rings of the shanks. The pelham is a lever-action mouthpiece. The longer the shanks, the sharper the effect. The baby pelham has short shanks and has therefore a milder effect than the normal pelham. A pelham bit is mainly used for strong horses, horses with too little space in the mouth for two mouthpieces or horses that have to get used to a bar and snaffle. This bit is not suitable for the inexperienced rider. (Curbchain included)
The double-broken bit has two hinge points, is shaped more to the mouth and is a bit looser in the mouth. This bit works on the tongue, the layers and the corners of the mouth. Be careful with narrow lower jaws, the hinge points can then press on the layers, which can cause wounds. Compared to a single broken bit, this bit has more effect on the tongue. A double-broken mouthpiece is a standard mouthpiece.
Sweet iron will rust when in contact with (air) humidity; the surface rust tastes sweet and naturally stimulates the saliva production. This will cause the horse to salivate more which will encourage the horse to take more contact. The process of rusting (oxidation) changes the blue colour of the TRUST-bit to a brownish-grey. A sweet iron bit will develop an orange-brown rust layer on the mouthpiece if it is temporarily not used. This is easily removed by wiping it off with a damp cloth.
The bits of TRUST equestrian are ultra-Dutch. All bits are designed, developed and handmade in the Netherlands. Every day a team of technical professionals works on the production of the TRUST bits. Trust bits are composed with the greatest care and made of the best materials, the quality control and standard is therefore very high.
TRUST bits are anatomically shaped. The balance between shape, material and weight is constantly taken into account. TRUST bits are slightly curved so that they are better shaped towards the horse’s mouth. Because of this anatomical shape, the bit lies better in the mouth and the pressure is better distributed.
